Convenient but Secluded
Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is an ideal location for your small group meetings, spiritual retreats, conventions and personal sabbatical. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan just a few miles north of Chicago, Garrett-Evangelical offers a place of picturesque quiet and reflection as well as state of the art meeting and retreat facilities. Our residential and meeting spaces are designed for larger and smaller groups and incorporate both the spiritual and intellectual legacy of our seminary.
Our VIP suites are located in Loder Hall, a LEED Gold Certified multi-use building. Private rooms with private bathrooms and suites are available for groups or personal retreats. With views overlooking the beautiful campuses of Garrett-Evangelical and Northwestern University, we have convenient meeting spaces close to a variety of cafes and restaurants on campus and in the Evanston area. Garrett-Evangelical also has its own gated parking facilities and negotiated rate agreements with area hotels and caterers.

We have meeting spaces for groups from one to one hundred. Private meeting rooms equipped with state of the art conference and communications facilities, smart classrooms, chapel and lecture spaces as well as small group and intimate worship environments are all available on campus.
Garrett-Evangelical offers a unique collection of amenities well suited for a personal sabbatical or clergy re-tooling. Garrett-Evangelical staff work with guests to design a visit centered on restoration, contemplation and renewal. Guests enjoy elegant surroundings and personal privacy in our VIP suites, they can make use of the United Library for research, any one of four chapels on campus for reflection, and by appointment meet with a spiritual director, pastoral counselor, or member of the faculty from any of our academic departments. The Garrett-Evangelical community worships three times a week as well as sharing a community meal once a week. Visitors to campus are welcome to attend and, as they are able, participate in these communal celebrations. Garrett-Evangelical is home to two of the North Shore’s most beautiful chapels, both of which are available to rent.
Howes Chapel: This stunning 1920’s building is a free standing chapel nestled in a rose garden and prayer walk and abutting the Shakespeare Garden. Perfect for both winter and summer occasions, Howes Chapel offers a picturesque, intimate and very personal venue for groups up to 45. It features a lovely organ, traditional windows and pew settings, and a photogenic altar area.
The Chapel of the Unnamed Faithful: Housed inside the main building at Garrett-Evangelical, this chapel balances traditional symbolism with modern architecture to create an open and versatile venue for up to 300 persons. The contemporary altar and seats can be configured for almost any setting or service, formal, informal, contemporary and traditional. This chapel is equipped with an audio visual system including projection and screen, incorporation of audio for worship, and audio visual recoding of services.
